[GEOMAPKEY]

 Sets the geo map key

This command sets the geo-map key that is needed for loading online maps. It allows users to enter API keys for accessing online map services within the application.

Supported Map Services and Notes:

  • OpenStreetMap: This service does not require an API key and is free to use.
  • Esri Maps: To use Esri Maps, users must create an API key through the ArcGIS Location Platform. The first 2 million tiles per month are free. Beyond that, usage is charged at $0.15 per 1,000 tiles. If the limit is exceeded, map display will be disabled until the “pay-as-you-go” option is enabled or additional usage is purchased. Recommendation for using Esri Maps: Each user should create their own Esri account and API key to avoid exceeding shared usage limits.
  • Bing Maps: This service is being discontinued and merged into Azure Maps, which is not supported. Existing Bing Maps licenses remain valid until June 30, 2025, after which users are advised to switch to Esri Maps or use OpenStreetMap for continued access.

For using Esri Maps or Bing Maps, you need to set keys in dialog box titled “Online Maps Support,” a dialog of the command GEOMAPKEY.
